Nuuka formed in 2011 by two old friends who had formerly played together in Treelight Room, a local folk band who quickly developed a small, fiercely loyal cult following.

With new eyes and a new direction, the duo sought out additional band members and began experimenting with more upbeat indie/rock sounds, trading in acoustic guitars for electric guitars and synths.

From June - December 2012, Nuuka hit the studio to record 5 songs and capture the energy of their acclaimed live show.

With much anticipation from an intrigued and steadily growing fan-base, the debut release entitled "Higher//Lower" was released in its entirety on April 5th, 2013. Since then, Nuuka has been featured on CBC radio, been direct support for notable acts such as We Are The City, and won a $5000 prize to film a music video in the summer of 2013.
